software for digital camera attached to microscope

I don't have the exact details, but a friend has a digital camera attached to a microscope
She wants to connect the camera to a computer so that she:
1. can take snapshots and save the image
2. view the microscope's image on a large screen

I am looking for software to do this.
Would also be nice if multiple images can be displayed for comparison

Any suggestions on a software package? (Windows 7)

If this is a dedicated camera that is integrated with the microscope (e.g. Leica or Zeiss) then she should use the software supplied with the microscope.

If it is a DSLR that is attached to the microscope then the remote software for that camera can be used.
