Hi All

A newbie here, what type or is any software compatible with Kubuntu?

Thx :)

what kind of software r u talking about? linux or windows software?

Err, anything ending in .exe is not (easily) installable in kubuntu.

Have you installed kubuntu somewhere? If you have, go to System > Administration > Synaptic package manager. This is an interface that will install any of several thousand software packages for you.

Anything particular you looking for?

wine lets you run microsoft applications on linux if i remember correctly.

Thanks for all the replies, I have been reading about Linux and Kubuntu and was investigating the option of an alternative OS to Windows, so yeah, actually all software that could be used in a Windows OS

Seems this Kubuntu way is rather kindda rough :p

why dont u dual boot xp/vista with k/ubuntu so that u can ease into it instead of just jumping in? it is a bit rough initially because of the way ur probably used to windows already, but it does get easier with time.
/me talks from experience, with kubuntu

yip, gonna try a dual boot, have already checked the FAQ out on the Kubuntu Forum site, wish me luck :) appreciate the reply
