Software Package "Mobile Connect"

I have downloaded a software package from Huawei Website "e220-hostb106d04sp00c03_(normal). Once installed it show an icon on my desktop called "Mobile connect". Very nice program, with lots of features on it. The only problem is that I can not get it configured to connect. i have to connect first with Vodafone Mobile Connect lite, after that the program Mobile connect work like a bomb. Give me all the detail that i would like to see and accurate usage. It even improved my connection speed. The only missing info is the tower name to which I connect.

I have downloaded the software package from Vodacom site which is suppose to be like mobile connect but it does not see my E220 USB modem.

Vodacom3G can you shed more light on this Mobile connect software from Huawei and how to setup a profile for the Mobile connect software.

Played around with mobile Connect and it is working fine now.

3g Usb Modem Vodafone Supplied Software

Hi.
If you download and install this software from Huawei this is exactly what you will get. It wipes the software and drivers etc and installs the standard or normal software from Huawei. Therefore the the Vodacom Mobile connect does not work any more. You have to use the standard Mobile connect. It is easy to setup, all you have to do is go to network settings and create a new profile. The only info you need to provide is a profile name & a number, example
*99***8# OR *99***16# These are the numbers that I found would work.
leave everything else as per default and save. Start Mobile connect & click on connect and all should be OK.

I am trying to get the original software to re-load the 3G USB modem, but nobody has yet responded. I will let you know. There is a post that shows that it can be downloaded from Huawei.com but the download is not available anymore.
The Software we need is E220 CD1HOST46V100R001B104D01SP00C19 (Vodacom).

Thanks for the info. My mobile connect is working fine now. All you have to do is to close the software that load from the E220 modem before you start Mobile connect, otherwise you get an error of port open, and as you say create a profile and enter only the number. I've played around with it this morning and it is working fine.

The same software that Vodacom have on their site to download does not see the E220 USB modem. It seems that it is only for the Laptop modem and for your cellphone, if you use a cellphone as a modem.

As for the software: E220 CD1HOST46V100R001B104D01SP00C19 (Vodacom), I have seached their site for it and it seems that they have removed it.

I must say the March 2007 version seems to be ok.

E220 Vodacom Software

There is 2 version of the VMC Vodafone Mobile Connect Software at Vodacom, Version 7 & 9.

Version 7 does not detect the modem/drivers of the normal software from Huawei. Version 9 is veryyyyyy slowwwww. I have found that the normal software works OK and has several good feature.
