Hi all

I have a 891MB winamp media file that I want to convert/split so that it can be burnt onto CDs then played in my car.

Any suggestions?

Download Audacity and chop it up in there? What CD software you're using? If you're using Nero, it will automatically convert MP3 to audio tracks when you choose Audio CD (make sure you choose Audio CD and not Jukebox mp3 CD)

compress it more in whatever format it is ?

Will Nero split the file though?

For just plain storage, there is a program called KGB...It takes a lot of resources though and can compress data from 450MB to just 1.4MB.
If i can give you some advice, don't try to compress it too much as it can take hours

The important thing here is not the size of your file but its time.

Yes Nero can do it very easy.

Load your file when choosing audio cd(don't compress it,it won't help)
Right click on the file ---> properties ---> indexes, limits, split.
Wait for the file to load then set your new "end time".Apply and done.

edit: you can also ---> properties ---> filters and choose "fade out" AFTER you edit your "end point"
