Hi,

Does anyone know of any free software that'll enable me to resampple ALL my pictures in one directory? I have Irfan view - but I need to go through each picture to resample to smaller ... and I have 200 pictures per directory!

Also, any free software that does .mov to .mpg .. ?

<stupid question> What do u mean by resample? A simple resize or something more intricate </stupid question>

If it's just a simple resize, then I'd suggest the MS resize powertoy - works like a charm. (or even picasa)

else try the GIMP available from sourceforge.

For MOV to MPG, there are a couple of tools available but >NONE< as powerfull as this. It might seem a bit complicated at first but you'll never look back. In order for MOV to work, you'll need a plugin. Just search the forums on doom9.org

Post here if you need advice or a "walkthrough".....

try google picasa, it is free

I had another free one some years back which was pretty cool but can't remember the name. Now I use an old by now version of ACDsee and although it isn't free, it is great otherwise for stuff like batch resizing

Use Irfanview's batch mode. Very powerful.

As for .mov to .mpg, have a look at mplayer?

What's the difference between resize and resample ... ?

In order for me to convert mov > mpg via MP10, does it require a non-standard plugin? I can't seem to find the option.

Rad Video Tools can be used to convert .mov files to .avi. I'm not aware of any tools that can convert .mov to .mpg as .mov isn't a standard codec so it requires a more complex approach. If you are worried about quality loss you could convert the .mov into a loss-less .avi format and then convert that to a .mpg file.

As for batch handling of files, I use ReaConverter Pro. It lets you to select multiple files from multiple locations and allows you to generate a whole set of actions you would like to perform at once.
