Software to rip DVD to avi?

Hey guys, I need the mentioned software.

Any good recommendations?

I tried Xilisoft DVD Ripper, but I get a smaller picture and my sound is delayed by a few seconds :(
 
The best ripper I've ever used (and I've literally used tons) is FairUseWizard. It's out of this world dude. I promise you. Get it here .

Dude, there are like a hundred threads on this forum asking the same thing.... You could have done a search... but here you go ... again...

1) To make a backup of a DVD to another DVD...
Install this program first... it will remove the copy protection and macrovision while you decrypt...

When you have that installed, then use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive...

Once you have it ripped to your hard drive, use DVD shrink to make the image smaller and turn it into an ISO file that I can fit onto one DVD... Note: you have to select ISO image as the target file from the drop down menu.

Once you have the ISO image you can use this program to burn it back to a DVD...

2) To Rip a DVD to an AVI file...
The free version of this program can rip any DVD to a 700 Mb AVI (XVid) File...

3) To turn video files back into a DVD...

so yes, Mercurial is right... FairUseWizard is the best!

as Garyvdh said, try searching the forum.

You can also try AutoGK, it's an excellent program.
 
Just want to add that DVD43 doesn't work on all dvd's ...... :o

... and it sometimes interferes with other CD/DVD burning programs or VirtualDrive programs... but hey, it's free! :p

actually, you really only need to install DVD43 if you have a problem reading discs from other regions. Otherwise don't worry about it.
 
it's just some of pesky discs (Sony studios mainly) just refuse to 'backup' ;)

DVDDecrypter (free on www.dvdidle.com) (use this first for copy protected DVDs)
Handbrake then to extract the ripped video to AVI/MP4 or use it without
DVDDecrypter if the DVD is not protected.
 
i use allok the demo version for my music videos because the demo give you 5 mins worth of converting and a music video only need 4 mins or less so it is perfect. but it converts everything, so maybe the full package is worth something.
 
And if you want to rip encrypted or protected DVDs then AnyDVD is essential. It's worth paying the full price to get lifetime updates.

DVDDecrypter is made by Fengtao - the direct competitor of
AnyDVD and its free.

BTW AnyDVD are liars. They claim they can make any DVD-Drive region
free, except that Panasonic Drivers have beaten them, its impossible
to make a Panasonic and possibly Philips drives region free, without
flashing.
