… tiny 3cm toy cars

I bought 3 x of these for my kids and one has already broken. There are only pretty much two components (panel and motor)- so I assume it’s the little motor that broke.

I want to put the panel on something else because I have it - globe? LED? Another spinning motor? She’s only 3 - but I want her to see the sun powers things.

What sort of wattage would this tiny panel do?

Drop it in the sun and get a multimeter on it and measure voltage, measure current and times the two to get wattage..

Don’t have a multimeter - but I guess I can borrow.

I’m also thinking that the motor may have some writing on it and I can just replace. These things seem to be dirt cheap

Oh it’s likely tiny. Even this at much bigger is 1w …

Were you following the service plan properly?

If they are into this type of stuff get them something like this.

Basic Arduino Starter Kit

Arduino UNO R3 Compatible with 16U2 USB Interface

Cool thing is you can buy what you need if you don't like the kit. It is a lot of fun and it actually works well. You can Even look online for Video on the stuff and order what they use then you can follow along.

It opens the door to Math, Electronics and Programing.

Probably a single cell so only 0.5 V or so, which will make it impossible to light an LED by itself.

Tiny motors, electromagnets - wind your own and see what it can do?

She's 3. But you can blow her mind by making blinky night lights and stuff for her with one.
Perfect time to get them into this stuff. When mine was 4 I did little projects on a breadboard and jumper kit with few LEDs and BIG buttons the bigger the better.

Breadboard & Jumper Kit
Switch Panel Mount 16mm White - No Lock (4 Pack)
Rectangular LED Green 2 X 5 X 7MM (10 Pack)
Power Supply for Breadboard 5V/3.3V 1A

You add resistors as needed so the LEDs don't pop but just have a look around. It is a great time to get into electronics.
