The solar controller has USB outputs and a 12V output where you connect your 12V loads. That's where the light bulb is connected on the picture.

Doesn't that "light bulb" circuit only work when the battery is full and the sun is still shining?

8.8ah seems a bit on the small side for my needs.
Do you know what capacity the bigger brother had?

IIRC it was double. 8.8Ah should keep a router going for about 4 hours, perhaps more.

No, You set the threshold voltage at which you want it to turn on, it works as long as the voltage is above that.

Good thing is the TV gets used, basically only ever get used around lunch and supper time, the rest of the time everybody uses their mobile devices or laptop.

So I figured for now all I need is something to keep the LTE running and enough juice for everybody's phone not to die before the power returns it would greatly reduce the amount of disruption to our lives.

If you hook up a 50W panel then that will obviously extend the run time of the router on that ratel by as long as the sun shines. You'll only use the battery capacity when there is no solar available.

Other option is to go for the 17.6Ah UltraLAN micro UPS, but that doesn't have USB output.

Found a video on YouTube made from a Zim guy, who claims this UPS can run for over 7 hours.

One thing I'm not sure about is whether or not I can keep connect the solar and wall socket at the same time.

I'm also struggling to find how much does Sinetech charge for delivery and their return policy

It's simple, the UPS already as a 230V input slot, to connect solar you need a DC input slot, same as you get in anything that uses DC like laptops and phones. You need to make sure that the UPS has a DC input feature.

Yes, you can connect both AC and DC to it at the same time if it's necessary, remember that the 230Vac is internally converted to DC to charge the battery.
