Also remember to add on R8500 for installation if you're using them to do the install

Will these Sunforce / Growatt systems integrate intelligently with the grid? I.e. use grid power only when batteries drop below a certain level?

Seems essential if you want to grow the system over time.
 
There is very little information about the specific mode of operation of these inverter brands.

I have since discovered that a lot of cheaper inverters can use Grid OR Solar, but not Grid AND Solar. So that means, if you draw more load than the Solar panels can produce, it switches entirely to Grid power and the Solar is wasted. This will severely affect your energy storage payback calculations. Some Solar will go to waste most of the time.

What you actually need is an inverter than can source energy from Solar PV and then add any shortfall from the Grid. I believe the Victron Multi's do this, and hence they are much more expensive.

Are any other brands confirmed to allow for this multi-mode operation? I think the Axperts/Voltronics are the Solar OR Grid kind.

Yes, it has load supply priority settings, parallel connectivity and even supports three phase connection. But you have to be particular on model numbers and get the specific user manual, I was looking at a general one.

I easily found the information.

As I said one needs to make sure of the model number and the specific user manual on what it does before commuting, it looks similar in operation to the Axpert inverters.
 
So has anyone bought from this company? I can't imagine throwing a R30k deposit on an item that arrives in a month and a half when I've never heard of the firm.
That is always a big challenge, too many companies selling stuff at good prices during load shedding, one or two scammers must be lurking behind the scenes.
 
Most Li-Ion batteries carry a 5 or 10 year warranty

I had one from Blue Nova in Somerset West fail (not holding charge). It was quite a battle to get it replaced. I was given a variety of excuses why they should consider replacing it

Eventually, I went there with the dud battery and got them to test it. Even then I was told there was no stock. A peep into their warehouse showed at least 40 cartons of batteries

Not a way to build trust
 
Unless there's another mention of it, it's definitely not anywhere on that page - neither warranty or guarantee appears.

Maybe might have been one of the other pages or listed at the manufacturer.

Been a while since I looked at all of it.
 
Those yield figures look suspect to me.
You're not going to get 10kwh in winter out of 1.9kw of panels. Take with a pinch of salt.

Also, you're not going to want to cycle lead batteries daily, especially to low depths of discharge - meaning the usable kwh of the battery storage is a LOT lower than quoted.
 
I have growatt inverter 48V, connected to deep cycle batteries. The only thing I am struggling with is charging of the batteries, the inverter keeps showing up on its charging while the battey bars shows full, do I need some setup to stop the charging light to stop when batteries are full?

As long as the settings are done right the inverter should be left on it's own to do it's job, it's intelligent enough not to be fooled by fancy battery bars showing that the battery is full, it can measure the battery and stop when the battery is full.

Did you or the installer do all the necessary settings?
