Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a solar kit for a farm home. just needs to power lights and tv. budget is 6k. is that enough or too little? I've no idea how any of this works so asking here for pointers and recommendations. many thanks!

1) Option 1: You can get a modified sine wave inverter (1200VA)=+-R2000
which needs 1x 12V 100ah battery, +-R2000.
Battery gets charged from mains when there is power and uses battery when power disconnects.
Total=R4000
2) Single 330W Solar panel is about R2000.
Solar Regulator(if inverter does not have built in): +-R800
+ Setup from above
Total=+-R6800

You can then charge battery from solar panel even if mains is disconnected. One panel might not be enough though, and the solar panel will only charge during the day, mains can still be connected though and charge battery continuously.

and for option 2, is there a reliable online shop that is reliable? looking to get this sorted by the weekend - left it late but oh well :D

Bit late now.

For the better pricing it need to be done in the week, TakeAlot has a solution, but you need to double your budget, they have stock in CPT

Where are you?
