Keen to know if anyone has claimed and received the rebate? Did you get flagged for an audit?

Also thoughts on conspiracy theories about a 'sun tax'

Apparently some state in Australia is going to start charging those feeding into the grid. Not really a conspiracy it seems. Seems likely at least the Western Province might copy this at some point.

What is the conspiracy theory?

I claimed this baby 2 years ago, had an assessment no audit submitted documents and reasoning and approved.

100% write off in one year - none of the tiny rebate nonsense. Solar system in short will now be paid off in 1.25 more years

Not everyone can claim this one its very very unique situations but dont forget about it.

Thank you SARS for my solar :p
"The asset has to be brought into use for the purposes of the taxpayer's trade"

I work from home permanently and require electricity to keep my equipment I use to work up and running..

I qualify, no..?

If you not employed and a sole prop or company yes you could potentially argue it. Cant guarantee you will get it. If employee with no additional trade dont even attempt it.

YOU NEED A TRADE NOT A COMPANY you can do this in your personal capacity but need to show you have a trade

I trade and mine crypto need power 24/7 etc and I built the argument around these trading activities.

Bare in mind the rebate ended 29 February 2024, so anything purchased after that doesn't qualify.

As a provisional tax payer I was flagged for audit for this solar rebate. SARS official called me today requesting some docs:

- Proof of payment(s) I made for the full solar installation or bank statements reflecting those.
- Electrical CoC where the number of panels and wattage are defined (my CoC only shows the number and in barely discernable handwriting, no wattage figures).
- Municipal bill (preferably from around the time of the install).

I eagerly await a rebate denial based on technicalities.
