Solar Power for remote CCTV site

I have a remote CCTV site where I will need solar power.
Site is in a valley, so I will get slightly reduced afternoon sun, lose the last hour of sunlight approximately.
My power requirements seemed modest to me at 78 Watts/hr


I have been to local supplier who says my Minimum will be 6 x 150W panels and 8 x 105 a/h batteries.

This seems not only excessive, but also impossible to mount so much on a Single pole in such a way that theft will not be too much of a worry.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The guys on 4x4community forum are also very experienced with these matters.

How many cameras?
What are all the equipment that needs to draw power from the solar setup?
Can you list the exact models so we can do some research on power usage?

78w seems rather high.

Most of my ip cameras are 5-7w or less. How many camera's do you have there?

I saw a about 6- 10 meter pole , one solar panel on top, box for a battery, and a camera inside, with extreme good night vision and a small dish for data transfer. This is use for farm security.
 
I was going to use 2 x 300W Panel, with 4 x 105 a/h batteries and a Victron Blue solar range charger, say 30A?
I really thought it would be enough
 
I am not a professional, I have some DIY setups for myself, this setup of yours feel fairly similar to my one setup on the farm (mine totaling about 97 watts).

I have a 50A Charge Controller, 1 x 100Ah Hybrid deep cycle battery and 2 x EnerSol 270 Watt solar panels

That is even overkill.

Thanks. I think I will set up one for a test run. Need to ensure I have a power reserve in case of bad weather

Yea that's why I have the deep cycle battery, but it's in Namibia there's permi sunshine and it's a recent setup, might be in for a surprise I'll add more batteries if I need
 
I was thinking that if I get correct panels and charger, I can start with 2 x 105 a/h batteries and if needed add an extra one later if I need
 
100ah battery can be safely discharged by 25% so 25ah
78w / 12v = 6.5 amp
6.5 amp drain on 25ah give you 3.85 hours
4 batteries would give you 15 hours.

Look up the battery charge cycle life by % discharged .
Keeping battery 75% full will make it last alot longer than when it 25%
