Solar power price warning for South Africa

South African households and small businesses looking to buy solar and backup power products at the lowest possible prices might want to make their purchases within the next few months.

According to feedback from a major energy distributor, the large volumes of panels, inverters, and batteries that flooded the country are slowly trickling off supplier shelves.

This was pretty much the case with generators during the first bout of loadshedding as well.

Loadshedding = everyone buys and companies stock up
Loadshedding stops = almost no-one buys and companies need to move stock to improve cashflow.

The only difference is that the major retailers could afford to run huge sales on generators (e.g. 40% off)

Exchange rate improved and global RE tech prices are coming down. So not sure what they are on about.
