Got a quote from a family friend for around R120k for the following

Growatt 10kw inverter
10 x 650w panels
5kw Mecer lithium battery. (can't find the model. Just have a picture. If somebody has an idea what the model is please let me know.)
With all accessories + labour + coc

Is the above quote reasonable?

Thanks

Quite a good quote. Don't know your case, but just a tip, maybe look at getting a 5kw inverter first, and only 8 panels at first, and then add another battery if money is an issue. Your inverter is overkill for your panels and battery. If money isn't an issue, add more battery.

Is place legit?

Did you do your research?

Did you get actual recommendations. Service is paramount - you are your own energy provider now

Solar scams are a dime a dozen so be careful

Yeah add another battery also maybe a "big name" hubble or pylontech at least.

I would advise against the 5kw inverter, the 8kw sunsynks are use without thinking units 5kw means you have to police usage esp during loadshedding.

Still trying to figure out who sells 600w or higher solar panels. Please do provide name of supplier.

Went for a 10kw inverter is because of convenience. Don't want to keep watching the load and need to switch between kettle/induction cooker/ microwave etc.

Yeah this is done through a family friend and he has one done for this own house as well.

Yeah, he also recommended the same to me. Though I doubt I will ever hit 10kw on the inverter. For battery, I will see if he can get me other brands. Besides the above brands that you have mentioned, is Blue Nova a good brand?

I have no idea. He will source everything for me.

He doesn't have Growatt 8kw in stock. He did say that Growatt 10kw is much cheaper than the 8kw sunsynk. Is Growatt reputable?

Currently your battery is max 5kw (2.5kw if it is 0.5C rating), and your solar panels are 6.5kw in perfect conditions, so you are not coming close to your 10kw.

Yeah also considered that. However, he only has 5kw and 10kw inverter. From what I've monitored, there were times where we will use over 5kw at a time due to microwave, kettle, induction stove etc so that's why I went with the 10kw. Another battery will come in the next month or two depending on the money.

Don't know much about Growatt. Just make sure it's a hybrid inverter, and not grid-tied or off-grid...

My next string of panels (for MPPT2) will definitely be something like this. Cheers!

(Takealot will be a win - I can spend my ebucks there ... so it would be really free ... so far have enough ebucks to buy 2 panels - maybe by end of this year I could reach 6 panels .. :P
