Solar superstorms could cause extended Internet outages

Well we should be ok for a while, considering we are approaching grand solar minimum, with zero sunspots predicted for 2023-25 (or thereabouts)
 
Next headline in 2 years... "Earth covered in Magnetic Sun Splooge!"
 
I'm running a VPN so it should be fine. If some cable breaks close by I will just change my VPN location to a better location.

If you see the Aurora Borealis in the Southern Hemisphere, that would be a real surprise! We are more likely to see the Aurora Australis.
As I am in the Netherlands at the moment it would be a real surprise if I see the Aurora Australis ;)
Even if I was in SA, it would have to be one mother of a solar storm for the Aurora Australis to be visible from SA. We are to far North.
