The N54L is about 5 years old, in great condition (has 2 minor scuff marks on the top), and was my primary backup server. As such, it was only powered on when needed. It has an additional BIOS modification which allows for all SATA connections to operate at full speed (AHCI Mode) along with the 4 main ports (https://www.avforums.com/threads/hp-n36l-n40l-n54l-microserver-updated-ahci-bios-support.1521657/).
The Gen8 is practically brand new. It's been unboxed and powered up twice to fit the additional 2GB ECC memory module in (and the second time to take pictures).
