I want to leave this here as possible help to others.
So recently I've spent 1+ week without internet because Telkom changed my modulation settings and my modem no longer synced.
Telkom guy's modem synced, but mine did not. WTF?!
I have the above ADSL/VDSL modem and trusted it to auto-detect modulation because the "DSL Modulation" was set to "Auto". How foolish of me to think it would actually do that.
If you're still on ADSL (my exchange doesn't support VDSL yet) and having problems syncing, try these settings:
Modulation type: G.DMT (or others, anything but "Auto")
ANNEX: ANNEX A (for analog)
Transfer mode: ADSL WAN(ATM)
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Service Category: CBR
After much reading on mybb, it seems these modems are similar to the Billion ones in that "Auto" on modulation type ain't worth jack.
