Some advice please

Heya,

I have lvl70 pala tank on EU - Lightbringer. So biggup to all wow players.
As my main reason for having internet is to play wow, I thought it might be wise to ask here:P

I am on a 3G connection, which was good enough to get me to lvl70 & thru Kara & 2 bosses down in ZA. But was abit of a "bumpy" ride tbh.

Applied with Telkom in July/Aug last year for ASDL line...still waiting & no delivery date confirmed yet, they cannot find my street name so WiMAX is not option they say.

Iburst never even pitched for signal test:(

3G imho is getting worse & worse latency wise & keep getting dc'd.

So long story bit shorter....any suggestions what/ who I can try for decent connection to play wow with? (If they offer unshaped even better, but can't be too picky at moment)

Lol i get 350-500 max on my MTN HSDPA e220 modem i am happy camper and MTN improved there HSDPA speeds recently it uses a full 3.6 Mps now :) .
But i live next to tower.
Even get 250ms for about half an our these days latency been GREAT.
Your prob with Vodalag.lol

Doesn't "vodalag" also have the 3.6mbps speed as well?
 
Where I stay my 3G connection with Vodacom gives me about 2600 lat, MTN is around 400. Maybe try another service provider?

LOL They give they same modem that run at 3.6 mbs but they dont even give HSDPA look at the Vodalag coverage map compare it to mtn its pathetic and the 3.6 Mps the max download speed is 700kbs sec tried with my friends Vodalag modem.

Do your self a favour just go check the maps and mtn maps coverage.
O yeah and on Local servers (not local wow server EU stays the best) youll get 30ms ping on games try it out no spikes MTn has uped there game in last few months.
MTN’s 3.6 Mbps HSDPA service is officially available, but the mobile giant has made two even bigger announcements.

Dude wireless is getting better and better screw telkom and Vodalag go MTN FTW :)

But if you dont wana play games go for Vodalag they are cheaper.

iBurst would be the best if you have signal. I suggest you get an ISP that resells iBurst to test your area, rather than getting iBurst directly to do it :)

Vodacom resells iBurst and @lantic as well :)

Appreciate the input, I will try the MTN pre-paid option, according to their street map they got
3G coverage on a complex 150m away from me so should be fine. Vodalag (we have no bandwith) is not the option for me it seems. When I phoned the "expert" call centre & they started talking about mega pixels ( referring to net upload speed) I shoulda known:)

I am amazed I must say...tried MTN 3G...could it be possible that there could be such a vast difference? hell yes!! 1,5K - 14K on Vodalag....400 - 600ms on MTN. omg lol

I get even better latency now on mtn they improved 3g speed recently.
 
I think most guys make the mistake that Speed = Good ping

That is part true and part not. MTN have by far the most reliable network out there. They have recently been pushing very hard for good pings as the gaming community is their next target group ;)

You can expect the ping to drop even further once they increase the backhaul on the tower serving you and once that happens you will have 3.6 mbps also. MTN pings by far out does Vodacom

Lol if it was not for Pitbull i would have had myself a 2 year vodalag contract would have hated it cant play wow 1000+ ping :)

But now i have 350-600 yellow bar all the time these days makes wow alot more fun with less lag makes you want too play more too.

Not 100% sure what mtn did but latency increased in last 2 months alot about 200ms on wow.
