Hey guys been a while since i posted here... wow

SO here's the beef:

I bought Halo 3 towards the middle to end of October. Been playing with whatever little time I have in my hectic schedule. My problem is that I've noticed that the disc has become scratched!! I'm on the final chapter, but I can't access the second last chapter anymore because of the scratched disc. The scratches are definitely not from wear and tear, cos its noticeable that they're in a concentric pattern.

Now none of my other 4/5 games (Forza2, GOW, Tiger woods 07, crackdown & dead or alive 4...yeah I know I need new games) have fell victim to this! Albeit that I haven't played these games as halo's been sitting in the xbox.

So what recourse do i have for scratched discs?

Can i phone kalahari.net and get them to replace my disc.

Also does the scratched discs mean I can get a replacement xbox?

Thanks!!

If your Xbox is scratching all discs then you can get a replacement...

You can also follow the instructions to get your Halo 3 disc replaced...

http://www.lazygamer.co.za/xbox-360/xbox-disc-replacement-plan/

Some people have had problems but a large majority of them have had their discs replaced. When they tell you that SA is not covered you can tell them that according to the terms and conditions of the policy all areas where the 360 is sold in retailers are covered.

They generally cave in

Cool. Thanks dude!!

Regarding the xbox replacement, I haven't actually tried the other games out of fear of the xbox scratching them as well... hmm.. don't wanna go through the whole mission of having more than just 1 game replaced.

Will maybe take my xbox in this weekend to Musica and ask for a replacement...

Thats being said, are the new premiums with HDMI out here? I heard somewhere that they are...

Yes but they are not advertised so blatantly and it also depends on whether your local store has them yet or not.

Is this good?

An X-Box Console,

An X-Box Wireless Controller,

256MB of memory, and

Five free family-friendly games (Uno, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy and Luxor 2).

All for R2,439?????

I'd drop that for the R4K bundle, specifically the Mongoose one, you get a HDD and a play and charge kit with Forza 2, Halo 3 and Via Pinata, better than the Arcade IMO.

Oh and HDMI and a quieter, cooler Falcon console is also a plus. :D

Is that a reply to my post?
So that special is crap?

Is that the old one or the Xbox 360?

Yeah it's a reply to you. :D

Not crap, if you like arcade games go for it. What games do you want to play?

The normal Pro bundle comes with Forza, Viva, Fifa and WWE, the Halo Edition bundle with the games I mentioned above, it depend what kinda games you want to play.

Ok apart from the games... the console price and specs... is it worth R2500?

THe arcade special also consists of the new consoles with HDMI, however the Pro special with 4 free games has the old units.

@JK8

What you're describing is the Arcade SKU that has now replaced the Core unit, that's marked at R2700 RRP, so yes that's a pretty good deal.

In terms of whether the unit is any good - Yes it is. You've got everything you need to play at a good price. There's even enough space on the MU to download a few more XBLA games as well.
(Remember with XBLA you buy the license ie - you can delete it and download it again later at no cost)

And any 360 will play any 360 game, there are no "harddrive required" games.

At a later stage, if you feel the need, you can add a harddrive, maybe even find a second hand one. They're useful for game demo's, (as of today) Xbox originals and Movies, if we ever get those.

On the unit - The arcades are all new Zephyr/Falcons with HDMI and new Internals, so no worries there.
