Vodacom 3G HSDPA is good but one thing you must keep in mind when buying new latops if you have 3G HSDPA PCMCIA Laptop Card. New laptops don't usually come with this PCMCIA slot anymore. Instead they come with Express Slots which will not take the normal 3G HSDPA Vodacom PCMCIA Card.
And now Vodacom is giving the USB 3G modem to there clients although clients with the 3G HSDPA PCMCIA cards cannot swap like when they could swap 3G only cards with 3G HSDPA cards for free.

So contracts customers be aware of this small detail when buying new laptops.

By the way if you wondering what happened to all those old 3G only PCMCIA Cards, well you can buy those (Refurbished but basically brand new) PCMCIA cards for R500 now.
Although those Cards only support 3G(384k speeds) and not HSDPA(which is 1.8mb).

The new USB Modems support upto 3.2mb so they have catered for next increase already.

Good advice!

Although some notebook come with both a PCMCIA slot and Express card slot.

My new notebook came with both, so I'm happy either way.

I learned about this the hard way :(
assumed that it will have PCMCIA and it didnt... now sitting with 3G contract for nothing..
anyone want swap for a USB one :)
