Some CRT help/advice please

As some may know from Off Topic, I got myself THIS huge desk now. And I will get some extra money next week.

Now what want to do is get some multi-monitor goodness cause my PC supports 3 monitors.

Option 1 is to get 3 of THESE (slow link) LG 17" Flatrons, but the fugly grey behind puts me off a bit, and doesn't fit with the color coding of my case, keyboard and such, risky to paint them cause then no warranty.

Option 2 is to get 1 of THESE Samsung 19" MagicBright's and two of the LG Flatrons or two 17" .26mm Dot Pitch Gigabyte Flat Screen Dual Tones or two of THESE (but in total black) normal Samsung 17" .23mm Dot Pitch monitors (cheapest of the 3 in this option).

Option 3 is just 2 of the Samsung 19" MagicBright's.

Please advice me or give your opinion.

A fool and his money is soon parted :D

PS: My cordless phone works like a dream and doesn't need a upgrade, and it was free .

All that money? Ever though of maybe investing in a plasma? TV and PC Use?

Option 1 is about R2600

Option 2 is about R3000

Option 3 is about R3000

And if I got 3 of the 19" Samsungs it would be R4500, hardly whatever silly overinflated price a plasma goes for.

Thanks for the input though :)

I've got one of those 19" Samsungs. It's a nice screen. Big tho. If I had to buy now I'd try getting LCD.

But in your case maybe get two Samsungs and try getting a third later.

Ok, thanks to those that gave input, I'll buy one 19" Samsung this month and maybe a X2 3800+, they came down R80 this week :)

And if I like the Smasung enoug, get another one or two next month, and yes, my desk DOES have the space, and they will make nice heaters for the coming winter :).

Lcd Vs Crt

Hey guys I would just like to know why all the talk about the LCD's I must ask because I am in the same situation, I want to go for the lovely 19inch LG FLATRON, but the CRT version, besides the ease of moving an LCD I still feel there is no 19" LCD that can compare with the sharpness and contrast of the CRT's why is everyone wanting to make the move to the LCD? Please shed some light on this because I have been stuck for a long time. Besides size of footprint on a desk, less power consumption and the ease of moving it around what visual advantages does it have over CRT's?

BUY a LCD .... its the way to go...... think abt moving all those screens ....

The cheapest POS 15" LCD costs R1700:
LG 1550S , 15" , .29mm , 1024x768 , built-in power adapter ( reduce cable clutter , easier for wall mounting ) , wall mountable with mounting slot , with LightView ; brightness - 250cd/m2 ; contrast ratio - 450:1 , response time - 8ms - d-sub , black bezel+silver stand

Its uses 15 Pin D-sub analog input , which is bad for LCD's, DVI input is best and costs much more as a feature (easily adding R500 to the price).

So my 19" Samsung for R1500 will have 2" more display area, cost cheaper, easily changeable and superior looking resolutions, a instantaneous "response time", be a nice heater in winter (I feel the cold easily).

The LCD only has space (did you even check how my desk makes my current 17" look like a 11"?) and mobility as benefits, and none of those are criteria for me.

Seems to me the year of the LCD is still far away and the year of trying to justify your expensive screen is NOW!

"Thank you, come again."

Cause they think everybody will think they are cool  or something. They wanna be part of the "in" crowd, I laugh at their "in" crowd!

Geometry.

LCD monitors provide geometrically perfect, distortion-free images-a huge advantage for advanced users such as artists and designers.

Will not do anything for games and excel spreadsheets and DVD's me thinks.

HERE is a LCD vs CRT page from ViewSonic, both have their advantages and disadvantages. One of my criteria is value for money, so I'm getting some CRT's.

Correct.

Same here ... well, one. Problem is finding a display that is both available, and of a decent quality. Don't really have enough $$$ for a 997MB, but they don't seem to have as many 'issues' as the 793DF's do.

"What did you SED?"

_da.

SED sounds cool, but probably gonna be so expensive :(
From what I'v heard, once they're in mass production, for large screen sizes like 40" and larger, they'll be cheaper than Plasmas, I donno bout normal sized screens tho
