Some DSTV channels not showing

I have this problem at home:

I've so far noticed it with channel 116, 192,193,194. The picture does not show and says something about "check set-top box etc". But when i just reboot the decoder (Pace, hdpvr) the channels then show again. But after some time it just goes off and i get that message on screen.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Would prefer to do this myself as a call-out would be very costly because I live on a small holding outside of town(East London)

I remember helping move a freind's dstv satellite dish for similar reasons. They had problems with the decoder and certain channels etc. Ended up moving the satellite dish on the roof and all reception problems ceased.

Maybe this is a sign that you should give up DSTV and go the Netflix or Hulu route That's if your small holding supports fast adsl.

I had the same problem, it is a connection or signal issue. They came out and realigned the dish and up on the roof the cable that goes into the LNB has perished so they changed that connection. That worked fine for a week then it started again, so they came out and replaced the LNB and all is fine now for 2 weeks.

I wish I had even normal ADSL at home, never mind fast....there are no Telkom exchanges close enough that suport ADSL

So for now it seems like I'll have to get a installation tech. out here...hopefully someone else comes up with a DIY solution.

Yes, it sounds like a realignment issue. It can also be that you just need to adjust the LNB skew angle.

I had the same issue with my HD pvr, using a dual LNB. I changed the LNB to another dual lnb, still had the problem. Then I replaced the multuswitch and all sorted now.

Well not really now, since I canceled a while ago. My tenants use the dish for their dstv and all works to this day.
