I have applied for an ADSL connection fom my client who has an office in Sloane street in Bryanston. According to Telkom they do not have ports on the exchange to accommodate us and have given us an indication of ports being available only in Oct. BTW Sentech does not cover this area. I would like to find out from some knowledgable soul, how difficult is it for Telkom to install new ports. Is there any way that I could get them to speed up this process. IS (Dimesion Data) have their offices across the road (The Campus). Do they offer any solutions ?

IS will not be allowed to offer a solution even if it was there [im thinking even wifi] due to backward laws ...

i am not far from sloane street and am forced to use sentech after telkom fugging up in a similar way the excuse i got was that they do not support ADSL on optic fibre this part of the world has lots of fibre and ADSL will be available in 3 months ...

the ports excuse should not be tolerated as they are the only suppliers and should be forced to ensure there is always infrustructure ... is this not why we have icasa ??

From what I can see from the Sentech coverage map, Sloane street is not covered. I wouldnt mind Sentech provided they have coverage. You mention that you have Sentech coverage close to Sloane street. How far are you from the cnr of Sloane and Main ?

mmm cnr of sloane and main is a bit away from me im LOS of woodmead there is a Bryanston tower but i aint found it yet ... im further up 12 from mount road off cambridge ... i do know of a company within 2km of where you are that was going to go for sentech ... im not sure what happened ...

sorry i cant help much ...
