Manto is so entertaining, we should keep her purely for that value

"Durban - Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang said on Saturday that traditional medicines had huge potential to produce new and alternative treatments for serious health conditions.

"People are using traditional medicines and natural therapies in alleviating conditions associated with HIV/Aids, diabetes, malaria and other serious health conditions affecting them," said Tshabalala-Msimang."

What she doesn't realize is that her idiotic rambling is killing off her support base

Manto sounds like she likes to smoke exotic weeds when she isn't getting totally sloshed.

Before attacking somebody read what is said. The article doesnt say anything about muti curing HIV/AIDS.

No she never but the fact that she said it had 'huge potential as a treatment for serious health conditions' is very reckless, and then to go on and mention (conditions associated blah blah blah) HIV in the next sentence is tragic

Well it'd be fine if she could prove her assertions scientifically ; she is a doctor after all; failing that I call BS.

Maybe she's onto something here that we don't know about. Wasn't paracetamol derived from a plant in the Amazon? I've got lots of plants in my garden to sell for the purpose of aleviating those symptoms :)

Even if Manto is a witch doctor she must be a very bad one since she only knows about garlic, beetroot and African potatoes, and just look at what she did to her own liver with one of her other remedies -- good old alcohol pilfered from Thabo's bar

Manto got her medical degree from some university in Moscow in the 60's. Has anyone checked this out? I wonder what language she was taught in. She's always complaining that she is not understood because English is not her mother tongue. That being the case, maybe that's why she didn't grasp what she was taught. I'm sure these Ruskie lecturers with their broken English must have been a big hit with someone who doesn't understand English - or was she taught in Russian, perhaps?
What's Russian for beetroot, anyone?

I always thought she received one of those honorary doctorates, ya know the ones where you don't study a thing and just get a degree because of position.

It was actually her nickname when she was over there learning to fire an AK. (much like Doctor Khumalo)
I guess it just stuck and when she arrived back here everyone just assumed...

Not exactly like info was forthcoming from the russkies in the 60's :)
