Some ports working, some not

Hey,

i am at my mates place who has dsl 512, some ports are working perfectly, browsing is good, i cant connect to any chat programs, downloading is really bad, cant think of everything else.

Our account is not capped, tried many different accounts, and nothing works, i have reseted the router and checked that everyhting was right.

Does any1 else have/had this problem?
Can any one help?
