Some questions from an ADSL noob

I have a Netgear 834 router thanks to the forum who steered me clear of the Telkom supplied Marconi ****e.

I am running Win98SE and Mandrake 10.

Do I need to use an PPPoE client (RASPPoE) do "dial" or do I get an IP from the router via DHCP and it does the PPPoE for me when I want to connect to the net ???.

Should be the latter, provided you've configured it properly. Netgear owners on the forum can comment further...

I got the same, but with wireless.
It comes with the DHCP enabled (192.168.0.x) so you should be able to plug and play your pc's.
To connect to the "web admin" go to the address "http://192.168.0.1/" - but thats will be on the papers you got with the DG834 - as welll as the default admin username and password.
There is a section where you specify PPPoE and enter your username and password (from your ISP).
It will then connect and so far I have not had to disconnect.
There is no need to configure any software on any PC.
