Some students' statements 'not entirely true'

Good day,

I have been reading stories about the protests at UCT and you should note that some of the students' statements are not entirely true.

I came here with a residence offer, but had to live in transit for a few days because there was no room available to me. I was then moved to Riverview Lodge in Observatory where I shared a room with two others. Yesterday, 16 Feb, I finally got res.

The moving around sucked, but UCT really did do everything in their power to lessen the stress. At the Lodge we receive home cooked meals twice a day and a takeaway lunch, at the University's expense.

I was the only one there who got res before coming here, the rest were all either rejected or on the waiting list. They came here knowing full well that they had no accommodation and yet the University met their needs by renting different lodges.

As for the racial aspect, racism is everywhere and these people do not understand that can't just be forced out of others. A lot of whites did not get res (and they're staying off campus because they can afford it).

Even before the protest, one RMF member talked about "getting rid of whites" and "permanently shutting down UCT". This specific member is not even a student anymore (he still owes UCT so he can't get his transcripts). He is still living at Riverview Lodge.

Well ... one of the students who had just spoken to Father Christmas told me that the tooth fairy had got into res before him and the Easter Bunny.

I had no reason to doubt the dude ......
