Hi All

Nice to see the site up and running again.Wireless pricing will most likely be very close to the following: (All uncapped!!!)
128/128 R450.00 - R500.00
128/256 R650.00 - R700.00
256/512 R1100.00- R1200.00

The only downside to wireless at the moment is the price of the equipment...Sentech has a licenses to operate on the 2.4 - 2.6Ghz frequency - If they implement this particular solution on the 2.6Ghz frequency, it requires non standard equipment. Prepare yourselves to pay in the region of R3500.00 - R4000.00 for the equipment. As you all can see, the layout cost is much higher than that of adsl...but it has the capability to perform much better though.

Cheers

Any idea on the following:
Contention ratios, throughput gaurantee (local & international), latency (local & international), contract period, uptime & refund policy....

That's R150-R250 more than Telkom's DSL at the moment. Is it going to be worth it?

If they can produce perfect SLA's, then yes this is a very good solution for 24/7 broadband internet. However, with the original problems of megawan etc. I dont know if this is going to be worth it? Still not the ultimate solution we are all looking for. Ideally, uncapped ADSL at relatively normal prices.

It all seems nice but I dont know if I can change from Telkom (no matter how bad they are) to a new company soon.

We will have to see how they (and if they can) perform.

I have been waiting so long for my ADSL service, I dont want to take any chances and in the end need to apply & wait again for the service I have now.

Any comments? [^]

I hope to get this service as a "tester" if I am chosen as one(one can only hope) I'll give you detailed information for you so you can make an educated decision hows that:)

The above is in my ball park, but it would only be viable if there was no cap, no port shaping and a fixed IP(not that it bothers me to much). For it to be an viable contender to TELKOMS sub par ADSL product the above issues would have to be clarified and we would need to know what sort of ratio's we would be looking at, that question could be the nail in the coffin !

Are these prices recommended retail or wholesale? I'm sure many people taking the above option are pretty connected when it comes to hardware. But yeah R3500-R4000 for the average Joe is abit step, I'm sure Sentech would have some sort of scheme to let you pay of the equipment should you want too.
