I've almost done it, yes finally after all the false hope media releases and empty Vaseline bottles. I'm dumping Telkom and have settled for Wazzup.co.za Unshaped Uncapped bundle.

Any reason I shouldn't

Wazzup : Payment Methods = Debit Order ONLY = Fail.

Seriously, I am so not into handing money over to the bank for transferring money on a regular basis.

BTW you will still be using Telkom's network....

Facts:
Their ADSL base increased by 21% to 650 000.

They lost 178 000 POTS customers, probably to prepaid cellphone services...

So in spite of an increase of about 108700 compulsory POTS subscribers subscribing to ADSL, they lost 178000 regular POTS subscribers? Sheez, only at Telkom.. lol.

@ b4 u born: I think it's fairly safe to sign up with them, have not seen any major complaints on these forums. People were sceptical at first and they had to clarify their line rentals (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?228398-UnCapped-and-Unshaped-ADSL-only-R159-is-this-real/) but it seems they deliver what they say.

Payment Methods - I'll only use internet transfer

It's for this exact reason that I (currently) wouldn't deal with more than 2 ISPs, other than Telkom -
WA & Axxess at least allow for Internet Transfers (on Prepaid), so at least I have full control over that payment method ; would consider Afrihost if they did the same - last I checked it was only D/orders & C/card.
There may be others that allow for direct tr'fer, but I'm not convinced yet of their stability, when compared to WA's.

Dave, their website has a number of payment options:
"Payment Methods
We have various payments methods available :
Monthly Debit Order : If you you would prefer this option please complete the fields below ...
Instant EFT from the following banks
follow this link to make an Instant Transfer to our account
Credit Card - follow this link to pay per Credit Card"

But their links are dead! Only option is debit order--so jah, a bummer.

On the plus side, their email systems uses Google's Gmail with @wazzup.co.za suffix--sure they are using Google Apps for this.

Looks very enticing.

How much are you able to download in one month?

I also want to know. I'm jumping ship to them from 1 July. So I will comment on this in days to come.

And yes. D/O only for uncapped options.(Not a problem to me as I was on D/O with Mweb in any case.)

I'm very tempted to try out Wazzup but the only thing keeping me is that you have to transfer your line to them. I know the complications that are possible doing this but at the same time it's cheaper than what I'm paying now, so I have a a bit of a dilemma :|

i am with wazzup, very good service. I had latency issues in the begining, first few days which i think was telkom as the exchange went down a day and they fixed it been great ever since. Day and night, sun or rain, cold or warm i always have the full speed of the line:) its awesome...

Guys, don't go near any ISP that insists that you transfer your line to them. You are only setting yourself up for a whole world of pain and heartache later on. Keep your line with Telkom directly, I promise you from personal experience that the R10 or whatever you save is not worth it, not in a million years.

+1

As tempting as this offer is to me, there is no way I (or even them) can guarantee this service will always be running like it is now. Too bad we have to be so bloody sceptic about everything and everyone in SA. Neotel was my final straw!
