Something a bit different inside, come look!

To be honest this fatpipe special is perfect, exactly what I was looking for for the past year!I'm also sure many would like the return of the bolt-on to compliment their fatpipe! Point is, your internet service is flawless! What I would like is a nicer "client zone" and perhaps a mobile app to monitor your usage.

Thanks for the compliment, Aquiva. There seems to be a trend of Fatpipe with a bolt on functionality.

When you say a nicer "client zone" would you mind outlining the differences that would make a difference?

I won't mention the last part as to rumourmill it... err wait... um  yeah, noted!

Agreed!! IN fact I think we may be getting a bit ahead of ourselves.

The brief is simple:

We looking at this from a heavy users perspective!

From a business model perspective would VOX not be better served by offering a 25gb or 50gb package at R50 or R100 respectively? A modest sized package that would appeal to a wider spectrum of users?

We looking at this from a 200gb-500gb users perspective, which is hardly the norm...

I also think the Mobile Data market needs to be shaken up a bit. You still can't get a gb of mobile data for much less than R50!! That's insane!! Somebody's taking the piss....

We are genuinely interested in any/all ideas regardless of the type of user you might be. There are the heavy users which amazing me some months with how much they pull on their 10Mbps line from the Cape and there are those not so heavies which are a good chunk of bandwidth who might need a few 100GB Fatpipe accounts to get through the month, there are the casual's whom fit the 100's perfectly, there are even users which don't even use a GB a month.

We aren't looking for the sweet spot, we're looking for some new ideas from the community. We want to provide you with an incredible experience online. We want you to enjoy the internet as it's supposed to be enjoyed. New ideas, spark other ideas, which lead to happiness all around.

Think big, think small, be creative, bundle offerings, throw prices out there, the worst we could do is ignore it and do our own thing or maybe we just grab a hold of one of the communities ideas, slap a killer price on it and offer it as a special.

I've been in the telecom game a long time. I've never seen this sort of approach before and it's exciting to be part of it. Keep it coming guys.

Regards,
Chris

I get you *wink*wink . On the client zone, it is functional, but could be better with some nice touches, better layout, menu's etc. A couple of features maybe like historical usage data/graphs, password change feature etc.

I haven't spent a lot of time on there, so I might have mentioned something that already exists.

Why don't you offer uncapped data between 00:00 and 6/7am on you FatPipe accounts.

Would be nice to save some of the bandwidth for peak times and do downloads late at night when the network has tons of free capacity....

This seems to be very popular.

Cavedog, if you were in charge, how much would you charge for such an add-on to the incredible Fatpipe account? Would it be available over weekends like the Bolt on or just a range of times regardless of the day? Would it be limited to 10Mbps or line speed?

Chris

I'm really getting tired of "uncapped" which isn't truly uncapped (i.e. FUP).

How about a 200GB night and weekends account for R150 ~ R199? Could be bolt-on or as a standalone data package.

Hmm, pretty cool idea. A night time account only where bandwidth costs like R1/GB (R200 for 200GB) or something along the lines of the factoring idea that I posted earlier where there is a day time cap and a night time cap which is like 3 or 4 times the amount?

Chris

Very nice sand_man! Now we're talking! What about bundling other services like back up, voice, mobile data, bundled line?

i don't mean to derail the thread, but what would an ISP gain by managing ADSL lines as well? Telkom infrastructure is so stuffed most of the time, it might just prove to be more of a headache than the money's worth?

Let's not derail too much, but the question deserves an answer.

Instead of having <huge number> of accounts, worrying about who will pay, who won't... They (Telkom) may have <smaller number> of accounts (ISPs) who do pay every month; this might lead to discounts which get passed on to the consumer.

Just another way of looking at it.

Chris

Makes sense. Thanks Chris!

+1 for G4G revival (with keeping the option for bolt on)

BTW loving this thread!
ISP's don't realize that clients love to get involved with new product ideas.

Must say I'm loving my vox account :)

Call our sales team and or service centre. The Fatpipe 50% discount on the 100GB deal ends at the end of the month. Buy it before it's gone! Use it once you move. We can manage your line as well.

Hope this helps!

OK I'm going to be annoying and ask this another way to be sure. I buy/subscribe to the 50% account today. What do I pay next month and the month after that? As I read it, it says R164 every month. If I cancel it and buy it again I'm back on the normal price.

I know it's not a special, but what I would like is some kind of drive from the ISP side for FTTH deployment, other than banner ads. Right now registering for interest with other ISPs just feels like a dead end, either because they point me back to the page where I registered or because there's no feedback. If Vox has a map where users can add their "me too" pins for FTTH, everyone can see each other and get a little more excited. It will help break the stalemate where a FTTH deployer thinks there's no interest and residents in the area think it just won't ever happen but they actually do want it.

100GB LTE mobile data bundle (excl. device) for R699 on a month-by-month contract. Unshaped data would be an added bonus.

Personally I'd love to see the 50% off Fatpipe 200GB and the Bolt-On option for Fatpipe accounts :-)
Just waiting for payday and then I'm leaving Afrihost and porting all my accounts to VOX.

I would say the next special should be to simply work on the communication of network incidents and then the competence of vox support and sales staff...

How about Vox striking a deal with a really good NNTP provider like GigaNews?
