Something needs to be done about cold callers - I'm Roaming

I have ended up abroad for nearly 2 years (unexpectedly - was meant to be a break, but then life happened) - but I have maintained some of my SA responsibilities such as banking, and a SA number (for OTP etc)
I activate sms only international roaming before I depart. FNB no longer uses SMS for OTP so I'm not sure I'm going to bother in future.

Yip, makes total sense. But because OP can't fix the problem at the source, OP needs to self-make a solution for sanity purposes.

If it was me, I would set full divert to voicemail and then set voicemail with a recorded message that says "I am out of the country, either WhatsApp call me on this number or call me on <insert international number here>.

Bye bye spam calls, way for legit calls still to reach me.
It's unlikely banks and other companies will call you on WhatsApp, or an international number.

Will the bank allow you to change to a foreign number on their systems?

Nedbank does.
SARS does.

I haven't closed anything since leaving SA except for stuff that only applies there, like insurance etc. The only issue I have is that Nedbank wants me to FICA, but I can't change my address to a non-SA one online. My phone number was changed using the app right after I landed. Super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

iOS26’s call screening feature has already changed my life with this kak.
