After 2 weeks of painful ISP hunting I came across a single one that had interest in my business.

Debra went out of her way to assist and has managed to get me activated within 3 to 4 hours from sending her the application form.

This has kicked off as a very good relationship and for now, I am happy to recommend them to anyone that is interested in fibre on the Vumatel network.

Was with Sonic for 2 years and was extremely happy. Only reason I changed was because I could get Fibre with another ISP for a R 1,000 a month less - loyalty only goes so far ;-)

I also had good dealings with them. They are accommodating and go out of their way to assist, typical small company personal service vibe.

Thanks for everyone's feedback here.

I have just logged my first support ticket.

The request is to enable DMZ on the TP-Link Router that they came to install yesterday it should not cause major havoc or require escalation to their more advanced support team members.

I will post my findings of how it played off in this thread.

I am happy to report that my ticket was responded to within 2 hours and that my request was completed without any issues and with good service desk etiquette.

Sonic has extremely appealing pricing on Vuma lines, and I'm considering signing up with them, as my area is having its roll-out soon. Anyone else got feedback relating to Sonic Telecom? Preferably relating to fiber. :)

They have some great prices on Vuma indeed!

My only concerns are these:

Q: Do you have a fair usage policy on the uncapped products, will you throttle my account?
A: Our fair usage policy (FUP) is between 200 – 300Gigs per month on home packages (there is no FUP for our business packages). We may shape a user’s link, after this point if necessary.

Q: What is Sonic Telecoms’ policy on torrents?
A: Clients may use Torrents, however we do not give Torrents preference during business hours (7am – 7pm).

So it seems the lower price is achieved by using a FUP.

Anyone used over 300Gbs and/or torrents that can give feedback?

I'm on the wireless until fiber gets activated, my usage this month so far is as per attached image, never been shaped, never had torrent issues 24/7

Thank you for that. We use about 600Gb per month with no downloading (mostly streaming). Hopefully that will be good with them. I'll prob just mail them and ask

They cut off my connection yet again today due to there being an invoice for a pole + mount to my name, when the Internet was already paid up in full in advance for April as well. Starting to lose my patience big time with these people.

Has anyone tried mobile and platform video gaming on the Sonic Wireless network ? I know they talk about low latency but that's only half of the actual story. Please let me know asap.

I've was on WISP with Sonic for the last 4yrs until I changed over to Fibre now with them too. This could be arguably one of the top ISPs currently around in my opinion to be honest. In comparison they're not as big as some of the other well known brands, which might be a blessing in disguise. They claim to have about 5000 subscribers currently.

A R1000 less, may I ask how much you're paying now and what package?

If you were a long standing customer like me whose been on wireless with them for 4yrs, you were lucky enough to obtain a fibre Premium package deal at Basic package price with no FUP at all. Meaning, no throttling, capping or shaping. U just let go and enjoy. The perks of good customer relationship I guess lol
