Is it possible to use a Sonoff basic on a light bulb where there are only two wires? First wire goes from the DB straight to the bulb and the other goes from the DB box to the switch and then to the bulb, basically.

Yea is does, but I wouldn't connect it directly to the DB.

Yes, that would work fine. Connect the sonoff at the light switch. Not the DB.

No, it would not work at the switch.
You could do it at the bulb. Bridge the neutral from the DB to the sonoff's neutral input and the bulb's neutral terminal (or connect the DB neutral to the Sonoff input neutral, and then run a wire from the sonoff output neutral to the light bulb neutral - probably easier that way)
Connect the live from the switch to the sonoff's live input
Connect the sonoff's live output to the bulb.

Note, you will need to leave the switch turned on, otherwise you cut power to the sonoff and then you can't turn the light on remotely.

Also, if you don't know what you're doing, don't **** about with electricity. Get someone qualified or knowledgeable to help you.

I don't play around with electricity but I know enough to install something like this. But if what they say about the Sonoff Basic needing a neutral, then I'll just forget it.
It has a wifi chip in it, and logic board, which need to get power - for which it needs a power circuit.

There are some controllers that can somehow work without a neutral (passing a small current through the connected bulb, I guess), but the sonoff basic is not one of them.

I'll call my electrician guy and have a chat with him. Don't worry, he's qualified.

Cool
Something else to consider if you install the basic in an inaccessible position - if for whatever reason your wifi is down or the server managing the sonoff is down, you won't be able to override it using the button. You might want to investigate whether it's possible for the power-on state of the relay to be ON. That way you can at least still turn lights on and off at the switch.
