Hey Folks.

So done a bit of searching but havent managed to find an answer to what im trying to do.

I have a sonoff TH 20A smart geyser monitor. My intention is to manage my geyser as I would with a normal TDGGT timer, but from my phone. In addition, i would like to monitor the water temperature.

However, if possible, I'd like to have 2 temp sensors: one on the cold inlet pipe and one in the thermo tube or flange plate for the hot water. Has anybody tried this? I read here that some has done this, but not with a sonoff device... ive also read online where 2 sensors can be joined in parallel as each sensors basically has a UID that the app registers and can distinguish between each. Even though they share the comms and power cables. Not sure on that, though.

I should add that I dont *need* the cold water inlet, it is purely to satisfy my own curiosity - a nice to have. If its not possible, then im ok with remote control, energy & temperature monitorig ( of hot water only) that the TH 20a provides.

The main question is whether you are going to keep the Sonoff firmware? If you are, I'm not sure whether the Ewelink firmware can manage 2 different temperature sensors or not.

If you plan to change to something like ESPHome or Tasmota, I'm pretty sure that you can connect them all on a bus, and talk to each sensor individually.

I wasnt intending on changing any firmware as i worry it might be beyond my reasonable limitations. If there are guides and walk-throughs, i might attempt it. Im looking for something relatively simple: download app, set up and monitor from there. If i need to start putting in coding, thats where things get blurry, although as i say, if there are walk-throughs and guides, i might attempt it.

I have some experience flashing and programming of AMI devices for inhouse smart kwh metering DCUs, so if its a simple 'erase and rewrite' a new program to the device for ESP home to work for example, then im interested in knowing more. I have no 'smarthome' experience at all though. So I would assume changing the software on the device is merely to download and use a more functional app to connect to it? Does this require particular cabling (usb to serial as an example)?

I have yet to buy my sensors and then install my sonoff, its still in a box somewhere that i need to unpack. Hence this post is to determine if im buying 1 or 2 sensors. I dont want to buy and add additional devices to the sonoff which i then add the sensors to - i.e a splitter / adaptor with two inputs that connects to my sonoff single input. If that's the only way to do it, I'll settle for a single sensor for hot water only.

I was planning to install the unit at my DB, inline with my geyser circuit like i would a normal timer. (Thus keeping the existing geyser controls and protections in place). Run an extended comms wire to the geyser for the sensors in parallel (if i can). Download app on phone, manage and set switch off temps and times, view load & temperature historys etc. Bobs your uncle.

From what i see, ewelink does all the above, with 1 sensor st least.

Never actually used Ewelink. I did write up a project of mine which you might be interested in: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/esphome-geyserwise-smart-thermostat.1231463/

FWIW, I'm using only a single temperature sensor, and don't feel like I am missing out on anything. Then again, my sensor is right in the middle of the water, not just on the outlet.
Well i certainly don't have the means, equipment or knowledge for that. Definitely beyond my capabilities.

Props and max respect for that effort though, it seems it was a fair bit of trial and error. I recognize some of what you did from my smart metering experience, but a large chunk of it i do not, lol.

Less hassle to just have two Sonoffs.
