Anyone here has seen or heard about these home entertainment systems? Seen an ad for R3000. Its really cheap for a component system. What are your thoughts?
No HDMI, I wouldnt spend that amount on something out of date - if you want something affordable look at Game , they have these systems on special now and again.
Look for hdmi with repeater, the amp decodes the signal for you and then passes it along to the TV etc.
stay away from "pass through" which as name suggests just passes the signal along and does not decode it - google is your friend if want more info.
trust me the more you spend on a decent amp - it's well worth it it - I have a sony amp with hdmi interface etc and it can blow the roof off. Paid R5000 for it.
All my movies sound so much better than the previous 5.1 in a box type I had, and blu ray rocks.
Thanks. I had thought about it and decided against it. I think building up a system will probably be my route. Well I have the 42" Sinotec full HD LCD and the ps3. I running Logitech Z640 pc speakers at the moment. Not that fantastic in the sound quality department. I restrictions when purchasing anything nowdays(wife). She says I have too much gadgets so some things have to go first.
Also depending on where you live - I stay in a large house but the neighbours are close, so I can only bring the volume up to about 40% of what it capable of - building up a system is going to cost you, especially with the newer recievers coming through with 3D etc.
But you could make n awesome Home theatre with enough cash.
I have the http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hcs-cinema-surround-kit/ht-ddwg800
And cant fault it at all - sound is crystal clear, watched Clash of the Titans recently and was mega impressed with the sound, Star Trek had the room shaking, t'was so cool.
I have a Sinotec 32 going on 2 years, very nice TV for what I paid R3999 and still 3 years on warranty left.
HTPC in garage with Blu Ray writer, DSTV HD
Got shows coming out my ears................spend way too much time in front of the dumb box.
I went to the place that had the home theatre system for sale. Their prices are not that bad. Bought a active sub woofer. I know that its usually one of the last things you buy when building a system but I got it at a really good price and could not refuse. Its the Sony SA-W3000 active sub. I will find a way to make use of it today. Heard a demo and that woofer sounds awesome.
