Sony Blu-Ray

haha :P
The blue ray drive rewriitable right? or rom

What do they go for and can it be purchased locally? What spec do your PC need to operate one, and are the disc avail locally? Regards

Werner is in London! Hence the euro prices. Any idea if the drives are available in SA? Suppliers?

rofl what a waste of cash

geez 500 pounds imagine the drinking that could have been done

i mean what is the point of blue ray disk?

how many ppl actually need 25 gb storage?

for the price rather get an external hdd

yea i hear that i just meant 500 pounds for dvd writer is crazy lol

isnt that almost as much as a conroe extreme 2.9ghz cpu?

Everybody will have to get one eventually or an HD-DVD drive which should cost the same. But as usual they will come down in price, get faster and soon enough they'll cost R400 a drive. Happened before it will happen again. :)

Only prob with movies is that only movies that were shot on film can benefit from this, if it was shot on Video and then put on to Blu-Ray then it won't be so much better than DVD (unless it was shot Digital at HD quality anyway)

i will rather wait and see who takes the crown between HD-DVD and BR for now.

a tad pricey to jump into a bandwagon which might loose its wheels later next year... ;)

if the HD-DVD player for the X360 does come out though for R1800 I will buy it. At least if it fails i can easily replace it with a BR player that MS will release in the future. :)

Just read Sony licensing prohibits making of dual format Drives, which samsung and LG were planning on producing. In that case, Blu-ray can go to hell, Sony just doesn't seem to learn. They are once again trying to strong arm the industry and they'll come short. Finger to your Sony!
