Sony Ericsson w850i memory sticks

Does anyone know what the maximum size in GB I can use in the above phone? Generic memory suppliers claim 8GB but I was told by Sony that if one exceeds 2GB the phone slows down dramatically. I only want to store more music on the stick.

What is the actual situation?

Also heard 2g is the max...but that should be enough for a bit of music.

Maybe go to a shop and ask to test a 8gb in the phone.

It might work, it might not...
