Sony Issues 3D Warnings

We've recently told you about the growing concerns of 3D gaming and entertainment, well Sony has apparently grown cautious as well. In a recent update of Sony Online's Terms of Service, Sony has officially issued a warning to gamers about the usage of 3D visuals. Quoted from the Terms of Service:
Some people may experience discomfort (such as eye strain, eye fatigue or nausea) while watching 3D video images or playing stereoscopic 3D games on 3D televisions. If you experience such discomfort, you should immediately discontinue use of your television until the discomfort subsides.
SCEA recommends that all viewers take regular breaks while watching 3D video or playing stereoscopic 3D games. The length and frequency of necessary breaks may vary from person to person. Please take breaks that are long enough to allow any feelings of discomfort to subside. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.
The vision of young children (especially those under six years old) is still under development. SCEA recommends that you consult your doctor (such as a pediatrician or eye doctor) before allowing young children to watch 3D video images or play stereoscopic 3D games. Adults should supervise young children to ensure they follow the recommendations listed above.
Though researchers are not 100% certain that 3D visuals can harm viewers, as with any new technology, everyone is eager to get involved. With so many people being exposed to the new craze, companies like Sony are starting to cover their rear-ends, just in case viewers begin to lose their vision.

I know this all too well ... I cannot watch a 3D movie .... get all nauseas and feel like crap fro the next few hours....

So if I purchased a super-expensive 3D TV, and then find out people in my household cannot watch 3D TV since the doctor says they shouldnt, then I've spent that money for nothing?

So we all should get "certified" by our doctors before purchasing, perhaps a stamp next to each eye? :D

I suffer from epilepsy ... so I have decided to stay away unless it has really matured in a couple years time.

just a routine corporate cover-my-ass warning.
my daughter is definitely going to be a lawyer with all the litigation bs that flies around nowadays.

While I agree with the waring (I have played with those stereoscopic glasses before) aren't that basically the same warning (minus the 3D wording) that is given to most, if not all games?

Yeah many games (Fast flashing graphics or "lights") can trigger certain conditions in humans. 3D more so as many feel nausea. Something to do with the eyes perception and balance and thus it can trigger things like epilepsy, fear, fright, etc.

They can just watch in 2D...
Actually, it's completely up to them. If they're willing to live with the side-effects because of the awesomeness of 3D, it should be their choice.

Common sense doesn't prevail in many countries, so those people have to be told about these things. A particular star spangled country comes to mind.
