Does anyone know what model I can look at between R4,000.00 - R6,000.00 to see the features one gets at that price?

You should be able to get a nice mid-range Yamaha for that price range. Higher-end Pioneers start at R9000.

I'm selling a Marantz at R4,500.00 and a guy said it's too expensive. I've been out the game for a while, so thought I'd check what Sony offers at R4,500.00 and amend my pricing.

The entry level Pioneer receivers between R4000-R7000 do offer better value than the equivalently priced Sonys.

Actually wanted to see what they had at that price nowadays - as someone told me he'd rather get a new Sony than a second Marantz at R4,500.00 because it offers so much more. The Sony is that price is the DH710 which has onboard DTS Master and True HD extra - that's it. The Marantz has 7.1 inputs LPCM for that.

Other than that, the Marantz is more powerful, more current, better build (8KG vs 13KG), has DC trigger, IR input, RC232, multi room, D Bus remote in/out, HDCD decoding etc.

It's more like the argument of 2 year old BMW or brand new Toyota.
