I don't think Sony are that desperate just yet. They've got plenty of other assets they can sell to finance the PS3, like more of their insurance business ...
They also have a lot of unquestioning fans that don't think of anything except "Playstation" which is what they've always banked on.
But then again, Microsoft is pretty confident there are at least 7 titles on the 360 that are going to sell over a million units this Xmas, Sony is praying they have 1 . . .

But then again it also goes to EA and Dyaks comments this week, which don't bode well for PS3 - about unified platforms. guess what, there are unified platforms. PC & 360 share a core architecture giving them shared economies of scale. PS3 is still the odd one out and seriously looks to be going the N64 "first party only" route.
