I know, but not everyone will own a Sony TV.

As a consumer I would rather invest myself in a service like Hulu which is available on all devices rather than locking myself to a certain manufacturer.

Would this be legal in this country? Or is internet broadcasting a different animal to something linke DSTV and TopTV where you need to get a license?

Is something like Netflix not available in SA because Netflix says so or because our South African law says so?

Not sure about SA law but something like Crunchy Roll is available to South Africans although the line up is limited as not all shows they broadcast the have international rights for. They still get to charge you the same subscription fee though as US residents.

Maybe a company with SA presence would want FPB rating or some other nonsense because of our restrictive constitution and laws, but foreign companies with no presence in SA should have no reason to respect SA law. Their servers are not in SA and they are not obliged to block foreigners from accessing them.

Also a company like Takealot or WantItAll imports DVDs and BDs which are not licensed by FPB in SA either. Amazon sells to South Africans DVDs which are not licensed either. Amazon does business in SA and I don't see the law causing them trouble.

Then there's YOUTUBE which is not FPB rated at all. There is even a ZA YT service which pushes local ads and channels ahead of other stuff. No FPB rating.
