I have a some Sony speakers and was cleaning them today and noticed that the rubber around the cones is starting to perish.
I assume this is from exposure to sunlight.
It doesn't seem to be affecting the performance
Two questions
Will this eventually impact negatively on the performance of the speakers?
Is there anyway to repair it?

Regards

Yes, it will impact performance. You could repair it although it might just be cheaper to replace the speaker

^This

The plastic foam deteriorates over time, it'll become brittle and break, the larger the tear the less worse the speaker will sound as its separated from the enclosure.

If it was a a very dear driver you could replace the suspension but seeing as it's not, go for upgraded or new speakers, this time look for composite or woven (paper or other) cone and suspension, it lasts much much longer.

Ok. Not really sure where to look for replacements. Would these suffice?

Speaker surrounds can be easily replaced.

The 2 I know in GP are Universal Speaker Repairs in Centurion and Merle's Speaker repair in Midrand

If you look around a bit in your area you will find someone. Try the places that sell musical instruments, they usually sell speakers aswell.
