I'm upgrading soon, and I've narrowed my choices to the Viviaz or a Wave. Which is better? I like the fact that Vivaz has hardware keyboard, also graphics chip, but has symbian. Any issues with the symbian that's on it?

I've had my SE Vivaz Pro for a little over a month... I love it.. But that's me coming from a much older phone, hence I have no problem with the symbian... The HD video recording is worth it!

No software issues or anything of the sort? What is the navigation on the phone like?

I'm trying to think of any... uh...Mxit isn't any good, but that's for all touch screens. I think that's about it.

Well I don't know what to compare the navigation to, but i like it. It's smooth.

It multitasks well. Mxit, Facebook, Music, Opera...

Thanks. Mxit is a moot point for me. I don't use it all. One last question, you use any apps?
Thanks for the replies so far.

Ja, I don't use the mxit much either.

Well the apps is the only downside I can think of, with Android having thousands opposed to Symbian.
The ones that are on are cool:
There is an application called WorldMate, it gives me my weather report every morning. Haha, as well as 5 day forecasts. It has a currency converter and some other cool features.
It has Office, so you can open word or excel documents. - Don't use, I work enough at work. (repying to your post doesn't count)
Adobe Reader.. - Use for french dictionary.
There's a cool note program as my background, where you can draw pictures. - Use when bored.
And a water level sensor that i'll never use, but it looks cool.

All the bases covered then. I think at this stage I'm going for the Vivaz, but have about 3weeks to still change my mind though. My biggest wish, a website where all the contract prices for all the phones are listed, I despise waiting for someone to look it up.. And having to phone..

My wife has the Wave and I'm pretty impressed with it; my mother, on the other hand, got the Vivaz (not the Pro) and I was less impressed with the phone. From a hardware point of view, I'd say the Wave is ahead in terms of a nicer screen, pretty much equal camera with better video recording and better materials. From a software point of view, the Bada experience is definitely smoother and more intuitive, though the app store is not as well stocked as Symbian. If you're familiar with Symbian and really like the idea of the hardware keyboard, the Vivaz Pro could work for you, but otherwise (and especially of you're new to touchscreen phones) I'd say the Wave is the better bet.

Yes, the wave has a faster processor, but the Vivaz Pro has graphics chip on it as well. I just went to get the latest deals, and the Wave, although free, doesn't get me a R500 voucher as the Vivaz does. And with the rand going the way it is, next month could see that voucher increase..

Vouchers FTW!

Can't argue with vouchers! I'd just want to add, though, that the graphics performance and games on the Wave are nothing short of amazing: I'm not a Symbian expert, but I would find it hard to believe the Vivaz would be demonstrably superior. Also, the Wave comes with free navigation for life whereas the Vivaz is going to cost you R400 or so extra there.

Be curious to know what you choose, though.

I'll update this thread, if I don't forget in my new phone ecstasy. Will probably depend on the final voucher value, if value < R800. I'll take a wave.

hey hey, i learnt something today! have the nokia ovi maps working on my vivaz now :)

And found a good review on the Vivaz Pro on AllAboutSymbian.com
