Sony - which model?

If the need would be for a solidly built smartphone, intended for business use, VoIP and a decent camera, which model Sony would you recommend?

Then: where can one buy for cash and not be bound to Vodacom's network for warranty considerations?

The phone will be used outdoors in arid, dusty regions as well as in humid rainforest areas. Someone suggested Motorola Razr Maxx which now is on my shortlist. Samsung too ''iffy'' build quality, so not an option.

Any OS Gingerbread or newer is OK. It doesn't have to be ICS or JB.

Any suggestions? Sony users, please share your experience.
