Is your phone insured then just take it in to vodacare

not the normal phone Warranty but the insurance because i remember i had a nokia sometime back and i dropped it and the screen cracked at first I got a similar reply to yours but luckily there was a friendly lady helping me and told me that she would check if was insured and to my surprise I was, ended up getting a new phone and later model think it was the 7610 first nokia 1mega pixel

I know with Nashua Mobile, they told me when i took out the phone that even if i got drunk and basically pi**ed on it they would give me a new one...
