This thread will be dedicated to the Sony Xperia i1 (Honami) as suggested by rumour. Currently Sony has announced the Sony Xperia ZU (Ultra) named Togari. This will leave the possibility that the Honami will be released later this year and will be the Cyber-shot return to the mobile phone market and in this case Android.

The Sony Xperia i1 Honami Camera App was ported (leaked system dump) to the Xperia Z/ZL as being reported by this link and the rumoured specs leaked.

Possible specs:

  • 20 MP camera with Xenon or LED flash
  • 2.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
  • Adreno 330
  • 5.4-inch / 5.0-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080) Triluminos
  • microSD and microSIM slots
  • 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB storage (expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card)
  • 2,700 mAh battery / 3,000 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
  • NFC, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, One Touch Sharing, Wi-Fi Miracast, IR blaster, IP55/IP58
Previous rumours suggested that this smartphone will have the exact same manual controls like the RX100 with a 2/3″ sensor, xenon lighting and possible interchangeable lenses.

This link suggests a complete new UI and 4K video recording.

According to various sources it is possible that this smartphone will be announced or unveiled on the 4th July in France.

Here is a interesting article: http://www.knowyourmobile.com/sony/...peria-honami-specs-price-release-date-rumours

The Sony Xperia ZU is to be a direct Samsung Note III challenger so it is likewise that the Sony Xperia i1 will go up against the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and the rumoured Nokia EOS.

So who is interested in the Sony Xperia i1?

I have been following all the rumors over at eSato Forums and I can honestly say I cant wait for this device!!! Will definitely be getting this device even though my Xperia Z is only 3 months old lol. Very tempted by the Xperia Z ultra aswell.....

Sony is improving with every device the release and I'm curious to see what the Honami will deliver....I'm sure it will be a pretty impressive device

The Nokia EOS (Lumia 1020) will be quite a competitor, huge rumoured specs on this Nokia. PureView 41MP monster on the way with a aluminium chassis.

As much as I like Sony, Im not expecting too much in terms of camera quality and capabilities.....I think it will be on par with current devices but definitely not better than the Nokia Eos or the previous 41mp pureview. I think Sony's camera software will be an issue

This will highly depend should the Honami truly include the RX100 controls and certain hardware elements. It would be like a real digital camera within a thin smartphone body. Should this not be the case then you will be 100% correct. I would really like to see what Samsung is going to do with the Zoom as it is apparently a 16MP CMOS sensor with a 10x optical zoom.

Basically we have (rumoured):

- i1: 20.2MP, 2/3″ or 1/1.6” Sensor, Xenon Flash, Carl Zeiss Optics, Interchangeable Lenses
- Zoom: 16MP, CMOS Sensor, 10x Optical Zoom, OIS, Xenon Flash
- EOS: 41MP, PureView, Xenon Flash, Stabilisation, Oversampling, Lossless Zoom, Mechanical Shutter
