Needing to find a sub kills that for me but, would no doubt be a good system.. love the look denon has as well..
I'm sure you could put a second hand sub there for a decent price, I'm looking at that as my old Pioneer entry level I bought in 2013 is now old. I've had to use the Xbone S into the TV and ARC to get sound back to the amp but there is always a pop when it switchs from pcm to dolby.
I also like the look of those speakers :)

There in lies the catch. Soundbars made by TV manufacturers will do the job, but thats it. For a better sound experience, choose one from an audio company. LG/Samsung etc is for, what audiophiles regard as, plebs. And I mean it in a nice way. Works for most that just want sound.

R10k will get you a nice soundbar from a reputable audio company. But soundbars are only for when space or aesthetics dictate the equipment.

I am using a soundbar now, but only because my living space does not allow me to unbox my 7.1 system. It is OK, but knowing what I have in the moving boxes, I know where it is at.

Sounbars are a trade-off. So get the best you can afford that is not from a TV manufacturer.
Samsung is trying to change that though...

As much as I admire them for trying, it is a waste of money. If I walk into a room and the name Samsung is all over the equipment, I will keep on walking.

It is like wanting me to believe a Geely is as good as a Rolls Royce. Even if true, i will not rock up at a mansion in a Geely.

You can’t be all things to all people, and sooner makers of consumer electronics realise that, the better.

That money would have been better spent trying to make a TV as good as LG, or a phone as good as Apple. Stay in your league.

LG + Meridian have by and large changed that and even Samsungs top end soundbars are pretty damn good.

The problem is that they all have "cheap" (pleb) units in their ranges which is what they get judged against (as you have done above) where the audiophile brands often don't (but sometimes also sell over priced rubbish).

But separate components will always continue to win.

So you've openly admitted that you will judge something's audio quality without even listening to it at all.

Well done.

You can’t be all things to all people, and sooner makers of consumer electronics realise that, the better.

They've done exactly that which is why they have massive ranges now and cover all levels of user, price and quality.

That money would have been better spent trying to make a TV as good as LG, or a phone as good as Apple. Stay in your league.

What utter rubbish.

If everyone stayed in their league there wouldn't be an LG top end TV or Apple iPhone.

If anything you are the one who sounds all brand conscious who would buy anything, even if it's utterly rubbish...since you don't listen to it after all, as long as there is a brand from an "audiophile" house on it.

The joke is most of the truly "audiophile" companies don't even make soundbars because they are compromised. And the other ones you probably consider in that league are owned by the likes of Samsung.

So they literally are all things for every man, just using different brands.

Just like your glorified Rolls Royce is only a BMW.

These things should be rated on their individual merits and frankly, LG and Samsung are actually at the top of the soundbar game and the "audiophile" brands are actually lagging behind.

If anything they are the pretenders trying to also get a piece of that piece. So who are really the ones that should be looked down upon here? Isn't it the audiophile brands selling out to compete?

I think you missed the gist of my post. Yes, brand consciousness is everywhere. And yes, I am like that, sometimes. But sense usually prevails before money changes hands.

What I tried to say is, you are pitching your product, in this case a soundbar at R25k plus, atsnobs with money. And a snob will not be content with a good product with a kak name. It is just the way the world works.

So, Samsung having the 2 best sound rooms in the world, which do not come cheap, and then pitching it in another league with their same name, it is not going to work.

Toyota realized that with Lexus, Nissan with Infinity, Onkyo with Integra and Mercedes with Maybach etc.

Making a B&O quality speaker with the Samsung name on it will not attract the right audience methinks.

I've got the Samsung MS - 7 series. Quality is great.
I was previously using the Logitech z906, the Samsung definitely has better quality sound - obviously not as much deep bass as the z906.

Except Samsung realised it just like Toyota and the rest....therefore Harmon Kardon.

But yes people will always be snobs and most “audiophiles” aren’t that at all and just brand snobs.

Doesn’t detract from the fact that both Samsung and LG make very good products in this space(under their own brands) that can equal or even eclipse some audiophile brands.

B&O being a price example of simply being overpriced and not really up to standard for the money. Note, not saying their stuff isn’t good, just the pricing doesn’t amount to the sum of its parts and you can do the same or better for less.

I am still not disagreeing with you. Only observed human nature.:)

But I would most probably not have a Samsung speaker or amp in my HT room.

Well if you have a home theatre room you wouldn’t have a sound bar.

And Samsung don’t compete in that space, so you can’t have one even if you wanted. :)

Post #8. Current conditions forced me to buy one. Can not wait for September to unpack.

I settled on a Samsung n550 sound bar after some unexpected medical expenses drained my budget..

Very happy with it.. watch a lot of TV and mocy and the dialogue is crystal clear with bass only when needed..

So,

The time has come.. my trusty Samsung hw250 has had a good 6 year run but, is on the way out.. I need a replacement..

If you had about 10k, which one would you buy..? Or would you rather opt for a receiver and surround speakers..?
I'm selling my Logitech Z906 cause I'm immigrating to Oz. Its a very powerful system with 500w RMS. I still have the original packaging if you are interested. I live in Kempton Park.
