I have a JVC TH-BY87 sound bar. It is permanently connected between a media PC and television via an aux cable.

The sound bar has a feature (probably for power saving purposes), to turn itself off after 15 minutes if there is no audio output from the PC.

Is there a way to prevent the sound bar from powering down automatically? Maybe there is an app that can generate a weak sound frequency that I won't hear, but will keep the sound bar on?

Is this Soundbar loud enough for a normal room ?

The ones that come with the woofer are. I have the Samsung one without the woofer. It is ok for the price I paid. Much better sound than the standard speakers that come with the tv.

I had a similar issue with a Yamaha sound-bar. In this case it was connected via HDMI and the TV's CEC feature would automatically disconnect the soundbar when the TV went into "deep standby". The power-saving mode can normally be disabled either via the units OSD menu (some weird option) or via some funky remote key-combo. The manual would normally show this.

There is literally no info on it on the internet.

Not AFAIK, but will have another look tonight.

Yes, I never require full volume. Decent for the price, except for the irritating feature.
Do you have sound at under 17? I bought this sound bar from IC when it was on special, I also find the sound is a little muddied as if the bass over powers it all.

If that's the case the does the sound bar have SPDIF? Try connecting it through that and not HDMI.

Yes, I've connected the PC to the TV via HDMI. Whether I connect the sound bar with the TV through SPDIF, or the soundbar with the PC with aux, it still turns itself off.

That's the big irritation. The sound bar is decent when you turn the bass to -7, but now I have to set the bass every time after the auto power-off.

Does yours have the hdmi port? As the one I've got doesn't, wonder if that's the different between the 870 and 87. Cause they look identical. Yup I also put the bass all the way to -7 then it sounds better.

No, it doesn't have HDMI. I see it's actually the 870.

Saw this on special now and was going to buy... Then I saw this. Disappointing.
If your devices connect to the TV through HDMI all you need to do is run the optical cable from the TV to the sound bar and whatever is on the TV will come through the bar.

Honestly, if you can don't get a cheap sound bar, the sound is muddied and the bass is over powering and the settings do not save, so you have to reset every time
