Hi guys,

I am looking for a Sound Bar. I will build a component system at some point in the future (5 years maybe so plenty of time to save). I love the clean aesthetic look of a sound bar and cannot really setup 5.1 in my space. I also have 2 little monsters running around so wallmount and concealed is probably going to be the way to go at this point

Have got the following two options to consider:

Samsung HT-E8200 R5000

2.1 3D Blu ray 400 watt power output FM tuner 2 x HDMI in / 1 x HDMI out USB 2.0 for Video Jpeg & Music Web Browser Smart Hub through your home system Bluetooth connection to stream music wirelessly 1 Year Warranty

LG BB5520A R5500

4.1CH Soundbar 430W Output HDMI Connectivity 3D Blu Ray Playback Wi Fi Certified Smart Share and Smart Control Support 1 Year Warranty

I am partial to the LG because I have a LG Cinema 3dTV and am keen to get one with Blu Ray as my PS3 is a tad bit noisy. not all that excited about "Smart" functionality but i suppose it's a nice to have if i ever decide to run Plex vs the OpenElec XBMC Microserver i am on at the moment

Any opinions on the sound bars above and are there better options?

If budget warrants, avoid the Korean brands as they tend to be on the lower end of the scale.

Think I've seen the Boston Acoustics TVee 25 for about R4500 somewhere. You could also try Polk Audio or Harman/Kardon. If you're feeling really rich, Dion Wired has a Bose one for R20k.

Hi. Reviving this thread.

Also looking for a soundbar hopefully under 5k. Running xbmc on my Microserver with 1 hdmi output.

Any recommendations other than the two above.

Has the OP followed through with any of the above?
