Sound editing software

My friend's wedding is coming up and he asked me too make a cd with a song playing with a dedication of some sorts playing in the background.My question is what software must I use.

I use Sound Forge, though I think there are some free ones like Audacity and Nero also has a Wave Editor.

Lol, I'm a huge linux fan, but can't stand Audacity - must be the ugliest piece of software on the planet. There is a much better piece of open source software called Ardour, its pretty and very functional but can be a biatch to set up.

Yes, from what I can see the Windows version has got more downloads than the Linux version :erm:.
